Asterisk, specifically FreePBX are a joy to work with. Most times they just simply work if programmed correctly. In my case I have inherited 3 phone systems that are interlinked and run Asterisk with Grandstream FXO front ends. Wow are they ever a pain to use. (Grandstreams)
Notes:
If you experiencing a power outage on site and I know this may make no sense. Boot Asterisk, Restart the Grandstream. Wait til it comes up (Asterisk). Reboot it and the Grandstream again and it will then magically work. I dont know why or how but its almost like the Grandstream and Asterisk need each other to be availablr just right at boot in a certain availability got it to work.
Other useful items:
asterisk -cvvvvvvvvr (Connects in with high verbosity, lets you know whats going on.)
/var/log/asterisk (Lets you find out more from a logging perspective)
I will also add a few other in a later post.
